Incredibly decadent dark roasted chocolate, dry hazelnut, sweet toffeeish caramel. Even gained a slight port like character with food. May have lacked a little bitterness in the finish but did a great job without it. I have to say I loved this one. sethdude (604), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Nice thin little head rests on top. Flavor is malty sweetness, nuttiness, a bit of grass, then a great hazlenut aftertaste. Many times, I've often wondered if hazlenut syrup would work in beer, and if this is an indication, I would say it does indeed. Nate (2564), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA

Mocha and nice aromatic hops. Copper brown with slight haze. Light tan foamy lacing head. Light medium carb and silky watery body. A bit sweet up front. Deep, rich malts but not cloying. Finishes with a nice tang then smooth nutty chocolate after. Very smooth - no bitterness. A very good brown ale with great chocolate nutty taste, though the watery finish detracted a bit. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

It's got that great hazlenut nose, and complimenting that, a pleasing malt aromas. Here's where this beer excels. The flavor. Oh, this is what I think of when I hear brown ale. The hazlenut is just simply delectable. The malts back that up with a great barrage of flavors. Creamy palate and full bodied make this one hell of a beer. Without a doubt, one of, if not the best brown ale out there Hab40oz (242), Grants Pass, Oregon, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 8, 2004 An inviting rich, sweet aroma with a light cream colored head which disappears quicky. I carbonation is low but adds to the amazing rich haxelnut taste, with hints of coffee and chocolate. The first taste leaves you in awe with a quick jolt of incredible flovor and then a seamingly, but not actually fast disapearence, which make you want more. A great beer for relaxing after a meal, on a saturday, or if your not a religion man, on Sunday too.
