Dec 7, 2006 Updated: Apr 19, 2007Flavor: complex; hazelnut brown nectar describe it perfectly; sweet and malty. Aroma: somewhat similar to Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout (if memory serves); smells of hazelnuts and a little bit of honey. Appearance: nice tan head that dissipates rather quickly, thin lacing, a darker caramel in color; a lot of carbonation. If you don’t like heavy ales, this is the beer for you. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I recommend it.

Oct 25, 2006 1 finger head. the chocolate aroma and taste is very present. Very dark but not to thick. A beer that i could drink every day and also I think that this would be a beer that you could buy and let age for a year and then that it will be better.

Mar 22, 2007 Wow! Im a sucker for brown ale’s and this one might take the cake (thus far). Excellent ale, pours a dark caramel with a medium tan head, maybe the best Rogue has to offer. In my personal top 5 for sure!

Nov 27, 2007 Updated: Jul 9, 2008Had this on draft at My Father’s Office in Santa Monica, CA, a great beer bar. Despite standing in a crowd with no elbow room, this beer was a religious experience, especially for a real lover of brown ales. Flavor was definitely nutty, but also strong caramel and chocolate as well that just exploded in your mouth. Easily the best tasting beer I have ever sampled.

Jun 30, 2006 I’ve been looking forward to trying this for a good bit now. Lovely espresso colour with ruby glints, just the way I like it. Poured a medium-large light brown head that smelt like sour milk. After I let it warm in my hand a bit, and the head died off, the nuttiness made itself clear. Sweet malt aroma with plenty of hazelnut. Great mouthfeel, thick in the right places. Fabulous hazelnut chocolate flavour with plenty of toasted toffee, malt and hops. Really is balanced quite nicely.

Nov 17, 2007 Really good. Smooth, hazelnutty, malty. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Some coffee/chocolate aroma with the hazelnut.. Smooth aftertaste. One of my new favorite beers, wish it weren’t so expensive.
