The hazelnut comes with a dark brown/red color with a one finger head. Nose is light hazelnuts. The taste at first is lighter on the nut, but I found as time went on that the flavor was more pronounced as it stayed with you. This won’t be my all-time favorite by Rogue, but it still is very very good.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 Aroma: One word: yum. Maple syrup, brown sugar, toasted marshmallows - and you can really smell the hazelnuts. Just a hint of mocha. Really something, this one.
Appearance: Gorgeous, shiny kalamata-olive coffee black. Pale yellow-tan head.
Flavor: A sophisticated flavor. Roasted malts that turn chocolatey at the end and a subtle hazelnut character. Estery hops lend a clean finish. The bottle says to serve with beef or pork, but personally I think it would match much better with dessert, especially something with a coffee flavor. Tiramisu comes to mind.
Palate: Good; full-bodied and thick.
Overall: I could sip this all night. I chose it as my post-finals celebration beer, and what a good choice! I just wish I had more.
