I really like this one, especially for the price. Has a nice dark roasted flavor without the coffee notes. Light to medium body. Very good. hamsterglory (48), Bryan, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 22, 2008 not usually a brown ale drinker or a fan of nut flavors in beer, i chose rogue’s hazelnut brown nectar on the high recommendation of my friend seth haines. immediately i notice that the ale pours very brown, cut through with deep-purplish shards of light rather than the redder, cherry cola appearance i usually notice in "brown ales." the aroma screams hazelnuts and dry, dry piecrust filling. am i drinking this or slicing into it? should i drink this alone or over vanilla bean ice cream or paired with a rich cup of coffee? before tasting this beer, it looks and smells too big to stand alone - it may need something else to help carry the burden. the first sip is all hazelnuts - huge and chattering between my teeth like squirrels swirling tree trunks in sport. second sip, and on, reveals deeper levels of sweetened chocolaty malts, coupled up and peppered with lightly spiced hops. this is an extremely large, but well balanced ale. too rich for occasional drinking, but perfect for a special occasion or celebratory evening with friends: which is exactly how i prefer most of rogue’s beers. gracefullypunk (307), Washington, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2009 Gorgeous pour, deep red brown with a thick, slowly to dissipate head that leaves a faint lacing. Malty, roasted aroma with, obviously, a hazelnut streak. Chocolate, coffee and hazelnut tastes but they don’t overpower. Definitely one of my favorites. nater (10), Sabattus, USA

pours deep amber-brown with soft tan head. the aroma is nutty-chocolate, very tasty. taste of light smoke, coffee and toasted malt balanced with light hop, almost no bitterness. coffee and hazelnut linger on the tongue. this is a fine brown ale and for anyone who really likes they’re ’filberts’, this is a must try. m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Pours with a dark brown hue, with a nice light brown head that is pretty large when poured, but surely dissipates after sitting for a minute to a minute and a half. Hue is murky as well.
Aroma is of nuts, lots of nuts - it is the most dominant smell in the aroma. I can also smell hints of very light dark fruits, and some sweet malt.
Flavor is rich and tastes of nuts - almonds and hazel nuts, wheat bread (maybe 12 grain), carmel, and maybe some coffee.
Flavor is pretty consistent throughout - a tiny bit bitter on the finish, but to the slightest possible degree.
Lively carbonation, with a light - light syrupy feel to the palate.
Wow what a great beer! This is definitely worth buying again! stchloe (492), Portland, Oregon, USA
