Nose is all sweet hazlenut. First sip is all hazelnit then roasted cocoa and just a slight dry hop finish. Very good brown ale. Would like to see a little more complexity. nickd717 (1374), Palo Alto, California, USA

Dark nut brown color with an off-white head. Incredible hazelnut aroma. Flavor is lots of hazelnuts with caramel, roasted malt, and slight fruitiness. Nuttiest beer I’ve ever had and I love it. Palate is a little thin, but this is an absolute top-of-the-line brown ale overall. webbcreative (111), , Oklahoma, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 15, 2009 Garnished with the usual whimsical Rogue label, I was greeted with a most definitely brown pour mated with a slightly less brown four-fingered head, which sadly knew nothing about lacing. Aroma was quite discrete, giving away not much of anything, at least to my untalented nose. Taste was quite different, being that of a "good brown ale". The mouthfeel was smooth, and there at the end, the hazlenuttiness(?) appeared. Surely a grand aftertaste. Certainly worth another visit.
