The aroma is very nutty, with hazelnut roast, chocolate, caramel malts, toast, brown sugar. The flavor is also delightful and pretty much follows the map laid out by the nose. Medium body, smooth, and a littly syrupy. Roasty finish. One of the best, if not the best, brown ales I’ve ever tried. joebudzjoe (231), Connecticut, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 4, 2009 Maple syrup brown body with a light brown head. Malty nose with vanilla hints. Sweet malt flavor with hints of honey, cola, nutmeg, peach, coffee, rooibos, lemon and a slight bite of mild hops. Slightly vanilla after taste. Wide palate that is initially wet but with a dry finish. One can taste the grittiness of the hazelnut extract. A refreshing, yet complex brew. Very impressive. Pours a clear ruby brown with beige head. Aroma of maple, wood, with faint nutty notes. Flavor is semi-sweet with maple, wood, and nice hazelnut. Has medium body with medium carbonation. Very good! jimel001 (34), Los Angeles, California, USA

The flavor is rich but not overbearing, with a sweet yet smooth finish. Rogue produces yet another winner. I would drink like 10 gallons of this if I had a tap in my apartment unclemike (833), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
