Nice solid hazelnut dark brown in color, how fitting, thin but firm creamy dark ivory head, faded fast to leave a skim always present and lace in thin sheets. Aroma is a light roasty chocolate and hazelnuts, with a hint of coffee, quite appetizing. Taste is rockin' smooth of chocolate tones and hazelnuts, slightly roasty and a touch of quick sweetness. Nice airy nut-like dryness in the finish. Nice creamy medium body, way smooth, quite nice and easy, makes for excellent drinkin'. The only thing is that its over to fast, but man its good! Another top notcher by Rogue. Morimoto version- I couldn't tell much difference between this and the other hazelnut brew Rogue makes except it seems to have more extractness to it. Nice solid dark brown color with some dark orangey glowing edges, thin but firm creamy dark ivory head, faded off slowly, lace in small spots. Smell is light roasty chocolate and a big time hazelnut extractness to it, some wiffs have more hazelnut then others where others were nearly empty. Taste is about as smooth as the other hazelnut beer with some lightly favorable chocolate tones and hazelnuts, slightly roasty and a touch of quick sweetness. Nice airy nut-like dryness in the finish, yet stays sweet. Perhaps a bit too much in that regards. Again with some sips the extract is more evident then others. Seemingly off a bit comparingly to the original. Still, a nice creamy medium body encompasses it while it maintains an overall smoothness and drinkability. Good, but the extract stood out a bit too much then what the original portrays. However, it is quite nice and wouldn't turn it down for nothing and; albiet it's a bit one dimensional.

Great malty nose from milk, nuts and toffee. Pleasant mild flavor with milky and nutty notes. This was really good...

(04.30.06) One pint, 6 oz brown bottle from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. 14P. 33 IBU. Clear dark amber with small off-white head. Soft carbonation. Caramel aroma. Medium bodied brown ale that starts with light malt sweetness. Burnt caramel and biscuit flavors from toasted malt. Finished with light malt fade and light bitterness. Smooth. Though no hazelnut aroma or flavor was detected, this is an excellent brown ale.

From a 22oz. distinctive Rogue bomber bottle with info and a blurb on the right side of bottle along with a good beef and pork symbols. Made a good appearance, poured a cloudy chocolate brown with a foamy tan head that settled into a thin lacing, moderate carbonation. Had a hazelnut and caramelized malts nose with a little roasted sweetness. A crisp, malty textured and creamy smooth medium bodied mouth feel, very good drinkability. Hazelnuts and caramelized malts, toasted and roasted with a nice sugary sweetness, a spicy hoppiness that is quick and fleeting in it’s bitterness, a chocolate maltiness shows up in the middle and a nutty and sweet malty finish. Another winner from Rogue, one of my favorite brewers, tasty, nutty and quite quaffable.

Thoroughly enjoyed this as it paired with a delicious Teriyaki steak off the grill. Very sweet, yet nice and full bodied on the palate. Flavors were of vanilla and hazelnut, primarily, with malty undertones. Aroma was similar to the taste and simply mouthwatering. This beer can be the perfect pairing with dinner or the perfect desert.

Brownish red with big beige head (sounds a bit like an s.t.d.). Chocolate, raisins, figs in aroma. Chocolate and roasted nuts (again: s.t.d.) with a lot of malt flavour. Nice one (not an s.t.d.-remark you hear very often).

Pours dark bown with beige head. Stunning aroma with caramel, some coffee and a little flowery tones. Taste is very full, complex with caramel and coffee.
