Very impressive with vanilla, butterscotch and orange in the aroma. There was also vanilla and malt in the flavor. Interesting. JBWalters3 (26), USA

There is no doubt about the underlying flavor. Not something you might drink a lot of, but would go well with some deserts. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours out of the 22 oz bottle a very dark brown color with a great ruby red tinge. Head is a little small and dissipates quickly. Aroma has distinct brown sugar tones and a touch of hazelnut, and maybe a maple syrupy note in there too. Flavor is smooth all the way through. A bit of maltyness, no bitterness at all. Definitely sweet flavor, but just the right amount (not overly sweet or syrupy). Overall very delicious. I like brown ales, and this is the piece de resistance. mpbro (132), Stanford, California, USA

OK, I usually avoid reviewing beers that I've not tasted for five years, so I'll keep it short.
According to the members of ratebeer.com, this is the best brown ale in the world.
This accolade is no fluke. It's easy to make a cloyingly sweet brown ale.
Rogue has managed to perfectly balance malt sweetness with just enough hop bitterness.
They also managed to squeeze a mind-boggling amount of complexity into a notoriously delicate (read: easy to screw up) beer style.
To top it off, this brew stands alone as a great spice/fruit/vegetable beer, which
is not an easy task, for anyone who's tried it as a homebrewer or sampled the whole spectrum
of failures from American craft brewers. Nectar it is! Cartoonkhaki (1150), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
