I think this the best brown I've ever had. The taste is hazelnut and chocolate. My favorite from Rogue is the chocolate stout. This one gives me teasingly memories of that. Very drinkable. I'm practically guzzling it. It's that good. ¾ (5011), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Intense aftertaste is very nutty, with slight bitterness. Drank this tonight with my roommate PrinceofNessus. tkaufman (129), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA

Aroma of roasted malts dominates. Flavor is a very complex and balanced blend of nuts, chocolate, a little hop bitterness and rich malts. A very good brown. (don’t ask)....Brown appearance (hence, brown ale), creamy, sweet, roasted malts, lots of nuts going on there, and smooooooooth, baby. Wow, this push to 200’s kicking my ass. frylock (1029), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 27, 2004 Poured a dark copper brown with highlights of dark ruby when held up to light.Decent tight bubbly head.Got to the bottom of the glass with no signs of lace.The smell had a malt dominant nose,with caramel,celery?,and some roastedness.
The taste starts out with caramel, malty tones in the center, and a slight roastedness in the finish. This beer seems well balanced, and has a good clean finish.Medium body and amply carbonated. Will buy again. Maxamillion (103), Glendora, California, USA

Of course lots of hazelnut in flavor which finish’s with a roasty coffee like taste. Only thing that annoyed me was that it felt thin. Aftertase is awesome though. Pretty good but just too thin for me, needs alittle more body. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA

The aroma is of sweet chocolate and chickory. The flavor is as advertised. There are buttery hints, chocolate malt hints, hazelnut syrup in some sips. Although this was creamy thoughout (but not thick), the only complaint is with the complexity seeming to come with bad blending and disparate sips. Maybe the viscocity of the extract has something to do with this. Overall, an excellent sweet treat.
