It was very crisp, but VERY VERY bitter, almost too bitter for what I'd heard of the brew. Perhaps it was a fluke, because someone said there was a noticable honey flavor when they'd had it previously. I'll have to try it again. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 30, 2003 Sparkling clear, amber ale. Medium-sized, fizzy, off-white head. Slowly, but mostly diminishing with great lacing.
The bold aroma is of fir trees and wild herbs; black pepper and sweat; meaty, even.
Nicely balanced flavor throughout. Malty and rich, but hopped lightly bitter, lightly pungent and perfectly.
Light-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation.
Lengthy, bitter, dry finish. I found no hints of honey in this cream ale. I assume this beer was brewed with both top and bottom fermenting yeast. BeaverBrown (245), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2003 Honey colored with a small fizzy quickly diminsihing head. Smells like hops and honey. Taste hops, honey, peppery and is slightly bitter. loweredsixth (942), Fresno, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 25, 2003 Pours a pretty orange color with a small white head. The aroma had some orange, caramel, honey, and some other citrusy hops. The flavor was more sweet...caramel came out, cirtus hops tones, and some earthy character. Soft feel on the tongue...wet finish. This is the only cream ale that I've really liked. microdyke (360), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2003 True honey in color with a diminished head. The aroma is sweet, like honey and these carabou treats that I give my dog. A little pine and caramel. The flavor was sweet and hints at honey and caramel with a bitter hop finish. I usually hate these beers but, for some reason I really enjoyed it. mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2003 This wasn't like that "other cream ale" that I grew up with. This one was a lot better, however I wouldn't call it a great beer. Didn't taste as much honey as I expected and there were more hops than expected. I would have liked more honey and less hops but it wasn't that bad. It would make a nice summer session beer. Wrath (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 8, 2003 Light golden color, slightly cloudy, with a puffy white head that diminishes rapidly. Substantial aroma of bread,
yeast, and floral hops. Overall, flavor is crisp and balanced between a moderately sweet background underlying
clean, somewhat tangy hops. Mild roasted honey beginning leads to a hop middle, and finish is crisp and somewhat
dry - primarily tangy hops with sweet tones of butterscotch detectable. Body is medium in weight and has a smooth
watery-cream texture.
