BeerBelcher (694), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 20, 2008 I really enjoyed this beer; pungent and intensely hoppy, this beer is for those that seek out intense flavors.
Appearance was unremarkable; this beer was a nice golden color but a bit hazy with a soapy head. Aroma was great. It was obviously very hoppy with a lot of nice citrus notes, a sweet-sweat hoppy smell I really enjoy, and an intense pungency that reminded me of some stinky cheeses I’ve recently taken a liking to. Flavor was more citrus and an intense dry hoppiness balanced by a significant portion of maltiness.
This is a beer to reckoned with in a very pleasant way. I’d definitely highly recommend it.
I had this on-tap at Roman’s Pub in Milwaukee.
emacgee (935), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 30, 2008 Draught at Tylers in Durham. Pours a light copper yellow with no head. The nose is really spicy and upfront bitter hops. Astringent, some citrus, alcohol. The flavor is pretty upfront as well, alcohol shows, seems like unrestrained hop bitterness. Offensive mouthfeel, overly bitter. couchand (128), West Amana, Iowa, USA Jun 25, 2008 Lightly hazy caramel, some off white head, not much.
Light floral hop aroma, opens up to a big earthiness.
Strong, persistent, pleasant business. Strong herbal and earthy, musty, some floral hop flavor.
Somewhat sweet, which fades away to leave the bitterness persisting.
A great I2PA. Beerded_one (1549), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a golden color with a off-white head. Very hoppy aroma with citrus, floral, fruit, and a hint of caramel. Flavor is a bitter grapefruity hops with pine, citrus, some fruit, and a touch of caramel sweetness. Medium bodied with a dry and bitter finish ketchepillar (234), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 21, 2008 On tap. I loved the hops in this. So tasty. Very floral. Very spicy. Malt comes through more in the aroma than flavor; it is decent but not great. Some citrusy hops but some pine as well. All around velvety scrumptious hops. 17thfloor (561), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 20, 2008 Aged for 9 months??? why? [Ceramic bottle] Nice hazy orange pour with a lovely white creamy froth on top. Earthy bitter aroma with notes of pine and sweet malt and a touch of ambrosia/citrus. Flavor is the same... quite earthy bitterness and very piney. The malts are a little awkward, some juiciness. Kind of a whatever beer... which a IIPA is not suppose to be.
