truegen (137), Puyallup, Washington, USA May 17, 2008 22oz. bomber. Pale gold color, with a nice smooth head on the pour. Active carbonation provides a good ring of foam, but not much lace. I was surprised to see that this recipe was the same as Yellow Snow. The juniper character is very mellow, both on the nose and tongue, so those who don’t like herbal beers should not shy away. Rogue is pretty good at keeping their accent flavors under control (chipotle and the memorable rose petal beer for example.) This is a very drinkable beer, but is somewhat unremarkable. It does seem a bit watery and the grassy, herbal flavors are not supported well by the body of the brew.
anders37 (2738), Malmö, Sweden Oct 7, 2008 Draught @ Brewer’s on the Bay, Newport, OR. Pours a pale yellow color with a small white head. Sweet malty bready spicy aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty slightly spicy juniper flavor. Has a sweetish malty finish. marksahara (73), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 7, 2008 On draught at Taco Mac Lindbergh. Beer pours a clear golden yellow with frothy crown and slight fingery lacing. Aroma is full of plant resins, citrus hops, and a slight bit of malt in the background. Very interesting, but I would call the resiny odour pine if I didn’t know it was juniper. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with vigorous carbonation, light malt backbone, moderate hops which aren’t aggressive at all and seem to provide balance to the lightness of the beer. Finish is crisp and the only point in which you get the lingering taste of the juniper in your mouth. Not bitter at all by my palate, in fact quite balanced for my taste. Great on draught, I’m interested to taste it in the bottle. tompete (63), Burlington, Iowa, USA Oct 5, 2008 Creamy white fine fast disappearing head. Malty with a slight hint of pine. Light to medium light body. Slightly sweet almost fruity finish. The bitterness is subtle but a little harsh. Hints of possibly apricot creamy sweetness. bbp182 (253), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 4, 2008 This is amazing. It has a golden, amber color. With a fruity and bitter smell. The taste is amazing! Fruity and bitter but not too bitter! Great! kiefdog (474), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 28, 2008 On tap as Rogue Yellow Snow Ale at Mellow Mushroom (Westchase, FL). Pours a clear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is slightly hoppy with notes of pine, malt, and some ripe fruit. Flavor is much of the same with stronger malty notes and more fruit. Generally light to medium body with a slightly bitter finish.
