heemer77 (3611), Savannah, USA May 8, 2008 On tap at the Sanctuary in Iowa City. The body was hazy dark gold with a white head. The aroma was strong pizza type herbs like oregano and fresh cut wood. The taste has some bread crust with some grapefruit rind. There was a strange bitter finish, kind of like apple core, but not that pleasant.
Pawola22 (36), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jul 12, 2008 On tap at the Flying Saucer in KC.
Aroma: Very hoppy, citrus, flowery. Some pils malt.
Appearance: Very clear light orange. Not a lot of haze. Two-finger white head that lasts forever. Lots of lace on the glass.
Flavor: Nothing too complex. Pretty bitter, lots of initial hop taste as well as a lot of hop aftertaste. Sweet and fruity in the middle with a pils malt.
Palate: Very smooth, medium carbonation.
Overall: A great way to style a pilsener. Very drinkable and an enjoyable bitterness. Like I said, not too complex. Nothing special, but still very good. PilsnerPeter (1323), Flushing, New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 Tap at Barcade: Pours a muddy honey/orange color with no clarity and an off white thin head. The aroma has some fresh bready malt character along with a touch of honey and spicy hops. Creamy and frothy body. The flavor is very spicy with a nice balance. Has a honeyish and doughy sweet background with plenty of earthy/dirty spicy hop character. Has some lemon zest and flowery hop components along with peppery and twiggy hop spiciness. A solid, earthy Pilsner. Gregis (853), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jun 26, 2008 On tap at the Flying Saucer-KC. Pours a hazy gold with a creamy white head. The nose is of clean Pils malt with a bright, grassy/floral hop note. Medium-bodied and creamy with a solid bitter finish, this possesses one of the better palates of all the pilseners that I’ve sampled to-date. The flavor is of sweet Pils malt up-front with a huge hop hit following into the finish. In the vein of Victory’s Prima Pils, this is an amped-up/hopped-up American interpretation of a pilsener. Ughsmash (2828), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 On tap at the Brew Kettle. Poured clear, bright golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma was dry and shy with a lovely blend of bready and lemony notes when you prod.. a touch of pine spiced up the back. Lighter pear-like fruits and lemon in the flavor with building (and rather taking over) pineapple that carried through the finish.. engaging the whole way with a dry, memorable finish. Medium-bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. spicy on the back.. very good. ksurkin (52), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Jun 22, 2008 draft at Barleys in Greenville. pours a cloudy orange/yellow with a short, off-white head. aroma is floral, fresh hops, and orange peel. flavor was the best part of this beer. quite tasty with good balance of hop sweetness and german malts. very smooth and easy drinking with a nice hoppy aftertaste. another good one from the locker stock.
