I passed this up for some time thinking it was a relabel (how unusual). Lightly hazed light amber liquid. Diminished off-white head. Heavy lager scents, with earthy malt, slightly toasted grain and a hint of herbal hops. After the aromas I was a little weary, but the flavor come back to save this one. Light toasted earthy malt, herbal hops, and hints of caramel are the driving forces. Flavors seem to wander between a Euro lager, vienna and an oktoberfest. Seems a bit rough. Finish is quite crisp. The linger is nice with a return of toasted malt. Lacks the refinement needed in a crisp lager.

Not my favorite style but this is better than most. Light earthy, bready aroma. Pours a clear amber with a fluffy white head. Flavor is malty sweet with just a touch of bitterness. Finishes dry. A little watery but not bad.

Bottle: Pours a transparent golden orange with a thin, spotty-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of semi-sweet grainy caramel malt with a hint of light fruity notes and noble hops. Starts with a pretty good fullness for the style and a nice German malty sweetness well balanced with a grassy hoppiness before a slightly drier bittersweet finish with some notes of black pepper. A pretty true to style and drinkable festbier.

Served on draft at Miller’s in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a medium sized head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of stone fruits and faint caramel. Taste is toasted malts, syrupy peach and pear, caramel and a faint nutty note. Medium bodied.

Beer from and split with Ben4321 Pours a nice, brown-ish orange. Not impressed with the aroma, very light. Tasty slightly malty, light bitter taste. Medium body, average carbonation. A solid Oktoberfest.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 11/23/09

Aroma: Nose of sweet malts, bread, roast, toffee, and caramel
Appearance: Slightly hazy orange color with a thin white head
Flavor: Medium sweet, highly malty flavor, just a hint of earthy hops
Palate: The body is pretty light, somewhat sticky, with above average carbonation
Overall Impression: Overall, this is a pretty decent fest beer, not overly exciting, but solid none-the-less. I’d call it a bit too sweet for my personal palate, but still highly drinkable and sessionable. Could probably afford a bit more balance and refinement, but it’s certainly not something you’d pour down the drain.

**Just submitted a Photo for this one as well, as it was missing one.

Bomber from the Bibby’s in Buffalo Grove, IL: This poured a bright golden orange body and for a very short while had a fizzy white head. No lace. The aroma held some rich toffee and caramel scents with a suggestion of earthy hops. Even that suggestion was lost in the flavor, pretty much leaving the malty sweetness unchecked and leaving me fearing for my teeth. Okay to drink once.

Bomber from Total Wine and More, Atlanta. Clear orange gold pour with a large off-white foamy head and relatively no stick. Aroma of medium roasted malts, corn and caramel. Funky smell. Interesting, but definitely kinda funky. Taste is sweet honey, grain, yeast and grass hops. Strange texture: slick oily medium palate that seems to rush the flavors. Leaves you hanging with a long, tart and funky finish. K didn’t like it either.
