Pours a deep dense brown that allows some light around the edges of glass with a finger of cocoa-colored head. Aroma is filled with sweet chocolate, tootsie rolls and a little bit of coffee. Flavor has more tootsie rolls, smoke and roasted malts with a slight bitterness that carries on. This is a light bodied beer, which doesn’t help the flavors too much and makes them come across as watery. I really like the aroma but it needs a little more body to be a very good porter. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Tap at The Blind Tiger. Nice and dark brown/black with a big chocolate coffee nose. Very smooth, lightly carbonated, maybe a bit watery?, but tastey with decent depth of flavor. Cirrhosis (623), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 3, 2009 The color of this beer is a very dark brown almost black with zero light passing through, a one inch brown head capped off this beer. The aroma is not to strong and consists of mostly hops and coffee with some baker’s chocolate in the finish. The flavor mostly made up of chalky bitter chocolate, tons of sweet hops and a good douse of coffee. This is just too hoppy for me; I don’t like hoppy porters and stouts, I also found this beer way to bitter for my liking. This brew was a big let down for me I was hopping for big things but it fell way short." Vertical Bacon Strips (918), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Almost black, slight reddish hue on the sides - similar to a weak wattery coffee. Poured a thin dark head that faded quickly :( There wasn’t enough aroma, and that’s too bad. Warm & mild, very mild roasted coffee beans and a slight acrid odor. Tastes of bitter coffee beans ruled. Very very spicy. My mouth got hammered the whole time and loved every second of it. Very sharp bitterness that remained on the sides of my tongue - it never goes away. Creamy, spicy bitter burn - amazing. Excellent beer except for the overkill of bitterness - which I enjoyed....this time... chandler0201 (358), Durham, North Carolina, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2009 Decent porter. Coffee taste is there, a bit off but still pleasant. Not a bad beer, you can knock back a bunch of them without them weighing you down, solid brew fakepurseninja (797), Washington, USA
