Very chocolatey aroma with some hops. This is one of the first rogue beers and one of the first porters I had, and now finally rating it, I still think its good. Pretty good porter. 17thfloor (1481), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Pours a murky dark dark brown with a small fine beige head. Roasty rye bread aroma, ok so its oxidized. Nice malty flavor, really nice roast, rye bread, light chocolate, love the black malt creaminess. The malts blend together wonderfully and add depth and smoothness, crystal malt being the most prominent. Would love to try it fresh and taste some of those hops. Coffee flavor is very faint. Great body, medium smooth without being syrupy, sharp fine carbonation. Cybercat (797), Georgia, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 15, 2008 This comes out of the tap an opaque sable with a thick, camel color fine bubbled head. Strong aroma is like smoky coffee and has a firm tone of unsweetened chocolate and hints of molasses. Rich, satisfying flavor is like a mocha, fine roast coffee and chocolate, not sweet but not bitter either. Finish is smooth and sleek. Recommended to all porter and stout fans. jbuzz (661), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2008 Maybe the best brerw Rogue has to offer. Suprisingly more hops than i had expected for a porter. Mocha is light and smooth. Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Draught. Pours a dark brown opaque color with small tan head. Nose of cocoa, coffee, and roasted malt. Initial taste is sweet, cocoa, coffee, touch of cream. Mid palate to finish continues that same, simple but good. Not usually a huge fan of a one dimensional beer like this but worked well for me this time. Light to medium body. Good head retention and spot lacing of the glass. Palate duration above average. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Just an all in all solid porter offering from good old expensive as hell Rogue. I have consumed a ton of these beers since I turned 21 and never regretted a one. Coffee flavor is perhaps not as pronounced as you would expect, but I am actually totally good with that. Nice roast and chocolate flavors too. jezmez68 (332), Chesterton, Indiana, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2008 The beer is a deep browh with a dark hint of red. The aroma is sweet, of deep malts, chocolate, toast, and coffee. The flavor is of coffee, hot chocolate, smoke, with even a hint of burnt barbeque. This is a pretty nice beer for a cold night.
