Thanks to unclemike for the trade. This beer is a murky dark brownish-black color with a medium thick land fluffy light brown head that recedes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Roasty aroma of malt and coffee. Medium-bodied with a roasted malt and grain character, along with flavors of mocha and hops. The finish is coffee and chocolate, with a mildly bitter coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

(bottle): Pours a black dark dark brown color. Tannish head, smallish but lasting. Sweet malty aroma, some sweet coffeenes Maybe some dark fruit too. But overall, not a strong aroma. Chocolate, coffee taste. Malty.

Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Moderate aroma of roasted malts. Flavor is more coffee than mocha, although some bitter dark chocolate flavors are present. Moderate-thin mouthfeel. Nothing you wouldn’t expect, but still a very solid entry.

Almost black, dark ruby, small beige head. Strong stale coffee aroma, tar, berries and dark chocolate. Dry coffee flavor with an Irish coffee finish, little liquorice. Almost medium bodied, a bit watery even. A bit of a let down.

12oz bottle. Dark murky brown with a good head. Roasty aroma with some coffee, licorice spice and earthy hops. Light roast, milk, some snappy yet subdued hops. medium biter and dry finish leaves a dark chocolate aftertaste. Initially left a metallic impression, but this faded away after a few minutes. Medium to light body with light carboation. Slightly chalky. Definitely has some decent complexity and drinkability. I like the dryness and hops, but overall it’s pretty so so for me.

Surprise, definite coffee undertones dominate, some burnt caramel or chocolate malt in there, thick mouthfeel. Dry hops finish. Tasty and interesting beer.

650ml bottle - thanks, Anna’s parents!
Almost black, dense tan head. Sweet roasty malts in the aroma. Fairly soft palate, with an immediate burnt edge noticeable on the back of the tongue. Taste is focused on that drying charcoally burnt edge, and is at first a little uninspiring. Some pleasant spiky hops build over time, which makes it a far more interesting brew. Certainly nothing particularly wrong with it - it’s a pretty tasty quaffer as it’s not too unbalanced.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a dense, tan head (about a finger and a half). Aromas are kind of a dusty chocolate with some damp earth tones. Flavor centers around bitter chocolate with burnt malt and charcoal and a bit of cream that shows for just a second before a bitter finish. This was spot on for the evening and is just what I was wanting earlier.
