Deep coffee and chocolate flavors...lighly hopped and an undeniable sweetness that curls in the foretaste. Although this is not my favorite style of brew, it was pretty enjoyable nonetheless.

22 oz. bomber. The familiar slight metallic twang of either Rogue’s brewing water or its house yeast. Light clean malts, just a hint of chocolate. Deep brown with a clingy brown head. I first notice a might lighter carbonation texture, then cocoa and slightly bitter roasted malt. Touch of smoke and roast chestnut shells, even a hint of Christmas wassail spices. That light carbonation tries to give the impression of a cask pour, and it does come close (or maybe I just let it sit out too long before drinking). Good, but a little too harsh, and that is not smoothing out.

Rogue Mocha Porter is a rich dark brown ale with a fluffy, light caramel colored head. The aroma is of sweet caramel, coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and maybe vanilla. It is full bodied and fluffy; very smooth with a clean finish. The flavor is well balanced with notes of coffee, licorice or fennel, and chocolate. There is a short aftertaste of licorice. Not as ’mocha’ as I expected, but an excellent porter-- one that I will buy again!

bottle. Dark brown pour, not too thick looking; decent amount of light tan foam that clears pretty quick, leaving some lacing. Weak in the aroma department, not too much on the nose. Some cocoa/chocolate smells. Flavor is solid- chocolate, mildly sweet cocoa, a little bit of a mild hop bite, some full toasted malt flavors. Even and full on the palate, with a smooth clear finish. Not a brew to get hysterical over, but a solid session porter.

Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of dark roast coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor seems sweet when first hitting the tongue, but then smooths out to a bitter finish. A bit thin on the palate, but overall a good brew.

Bottle, Average white diminishing head. Extremely dark brown/black color. Burnt coffee/chocolate aroma. Full bodied thick texture with average carbonation. Sweeter tasting than I expected. A little metallic on the finish. Lightly bitter finish.
