12 ounce bottle from John’s Marketplace in PDX--Poures a dark brown body with a big whitish head. Nutty, peaty, chocolaty nose with a little roasty toasty tart. Nice body, good rounded mouthfeel. Bitter chocolate finish. Pretty clean.

This thing pours as tar with a massive frothy head. Hmm. SMOKEY! If I didnt know better Id swear there was bacon in here. Heavily sedimented and this stuff clings. Im thinking I should of had some meat ready to pair with this bastard. NOTE: realbama must be on drugs.

Bottle. Not a dark pour, extremely thin head. Bitter, coffee/chocolate taste. Its a average beer, but with a pretty bitter taste throughout.

Pours a deep brownish black with a nice light brown head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, barley and malt. Flavor is dry cocoa, roasted barley and finishes with a touch of bitterness. Decent brew.

Pour is not nearly as dark as I thought it would be. Aroma of light chocolate, caramel, and malt. Flavor has a bit more toasted character but I don’t taste much coffee until the late finish and there’s only a little. Well blended brew. Nothing exceptional but still good. Easy drinker. May buy again.

Bottle pours a nice dark brownish/black color with a tan head. Aroma is pure chocolate and roasted malts. Very nice flavor. I enjoyed the bitterness in the finish and the solid aftertaste.

3/27/08 notes: big bottle. Pours dark brown-black with small tan head. Typical porter pour. Aroma features dark chocolate, dates, dark malts, and roasty notes. Flavor that first hits your mouth is a tasty semisweet dark chocolate with touches of dates and other dark fruit. Finish had nice roasted flavors as similar hop flavors that are present in Rogue’s American Amber. Loved the fact that it didn’t sweeten out at end, really tasted like a well-made, traditional porter in this sense. Body is a tad on the light side, and the carbonation seems a little much for a “mature” porter, but still quite a good beer. Would buy again at $5.
