The head went down to just a film in just a few minutes, but it did leave some nice lacing. There was a strong aroma of dark chocolate and espresso and they were carried through to the flavor as well. A bit of smokiness was also in the flavor and a mild bitterness as well. The finish was slightly dry with the bitterness lingering on. Leighton (302), New York, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Delicious, Rich, Bold. Had some on tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a black-brown with a creamy beige head. Nose is all burnt malts, chocolate and coffee. Flavor reinforces the aroma, with some sweetness to balance the bitter, roasted malt backbone. Heavy mouthfeel. Smooth and creamy on the finish, this beer leaves a pleasant, rich, bitter, burnt flavor on the palette. Again, delicious. pressboxjoe (74), , New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Bottle. Creamy, chocolatey, coffee-y. Sweet, comforting. I don’t really like porters that much, but if I’m going to have one, along with Anchor, this is a go-to option. 13mikey (164), New Hope, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 21, 2009 12 oz bottle from Princeton’s. Dark brown/black pour with a big creamy tan head with some craters. Faint chocolate aroma with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is totally mocha, like a treat you’d get from a coffee shop. Smooth creamy mouthfeel and a nice lingering finish that keeps the coffee/chocolate flavors dancing on your tongue. Fantastic beer. jredmond (1057), New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Sample from RnH. This pours a dark dark brown with slight ligth brown lacing. Aroma is toffee, roast, and bitter chocolate. The taste is insane - roasty with a definite "weed" flavor, so strange. Narnad (720), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2009 Pours a very dark black color with a thin, tan head. Aroma is has notes of dark chocolate and lots of coffee. Flavor is slightly acidic, coffee and roasted malts were there but not overpowering while a sweet chocolate flavor followed up the slightly bitter start at the end. Modest body, slightly thin texture and a good amount of lacing. Overall a pretty enjoyable brew and one that I wouldn’t mind finding again sometime. ultracake (36), salem, Oregon, USA

I thought this might be a little over-rated at first but just when I was thinking "meh" it warmed up a little. This was great from the high end of cellar all the way to room temperature. lots of coffee and baking chocolate.
