It appears a healthy delicious black with a soft, foamy, light tan head. It has basic dark porter aromas, but with a nice hint of vanilla. The palate is somewhat watery, but overall the beer leaves a rich and smokey impression on your palate. The flavor seemed to get better as I drank it; it exhibited strong coffee and burnt malt flavors with the nose and finished with subtle but robust vanilla and caramel flavors. This beer, though not worth the 11 dollars I payed for the 6 pack, is worth trying at some point, especially if you can find it on tap. Petrucci914 (601), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Pours a dark black with a thin soapy head. Aroma is musty with some funky sweet chocolate. Taste is smooth and carbonated, some chocolate, and some dry roasted coffee grounds. A bit too much cardboard in the taste. beoir (51), st paul, Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2008 this a decent and accessible porter. notes of coffee, cream, roasted malt, vanilla. nothing extravagent going on here just a nice well balanced porter. good to go. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Pours dark brown with garnet highlights and a pitted tan head. On the nose are milk chocolate, light coffee, cream and sweet roasted malt. Light to medium-bodied and thin with a creamy mouthfeel and a lightly bitter finish. Bittersweet chocolate, coffee and cream (a mild lactose note) transition to a roasted and controlled bitter hop finish. This is a tasty and quaffable porter that is fairly hoppy, for the style, but remains well balanced throughout.
