pours dark red and brown. a nice surprise in this bottle. smelled sweet and citrusy with a darkness of chocolate and nuts. tastes are woodsy, pine, citrus, roasted malts and a little milk. i like the way the foam puddled around the top.

12 oz bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Very dark rootbeer tinted black. Aroma of chocolate and sourness. Nice chocolate taste balanced with a nice hoppiness, but there is a bit of a metallic taste also present. This is average.

Nice bitter and chocolate flavors. Somewhat heavy and dense. Yeah, this stuff is yummy. Rogue stuff seems to be pretty consistent.

Pours a dark almost black brown with a little head. Seems a bit thin on the palate, but has a nice hoppy finish. You can taste coffee and smoke - but not much else. It’s good, and a decent session Porter.

Pours a robust dark brown color very similar to coffee w/ a small tan head. Combination of dark chocolate, smoked wood and coffee flavors predominate. Finishes strong on the back of the palate. Medium bodied. Very tasty.

I was really excited for this on a cold snowy night and although pleasant didn’t quite live up to what the evening demanded. A light roasty aroma. The flavor is smooth, roasted malt, coffee and a bit of chocolate with a hop finish, but it’s thin for what this beer is. It’s a solid beer, but it just didn’t wow me.

On tap at The Old Toad in Rochester. Poured black with a tan creamy head. Roasted malt aroma with some nuts and coffee. Medium full body. Roasted malt flavor with some burnt wood, coffee, and a very noticeable amount of floral hops. Very good balance of malt and hop.

Pours a deep black with a thin bown/white head. Light chocolate on the nose with a hop presense. Taste is much of the same of the nose, with a light mocha finish. Not bad.
