Very carbonated initially on the palate, followed by subtle roasted coffee and chocolate and a bitter finish....not hop bitter, more like coffee bitter. A well-rounded porter, with good body and a nice lingering cream finish, aside from the bitterness which can be a bit much. gearbike (416), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA

Light roast and coffee notes on the aroma Taste is nice and chocolately with a good roast component on the back end. A pretty decent porter, one I walk by all the time. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Updated: Jul 28, 2008Bottle, pint 6 oz. Aroma somewhat weak, coffee, some hops, some roast. Flavor tasty enough, more coffee of course, some chocolate. Mouthfeel is pretty thin as others have said, but it’s plenty good to satisfy me. Nothing new to say really; fun stuff. 6-4-7-3/3.5 Rerate 7/29/08 Bottle, 12 oz. Same aroma and flavor notes, but both actually nice and robust, no thin mouthfeel to speak of. 7-4-7-4-15/3.7 CP (124), USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Nose of coffee, caramel, and roasted malts. Bittersweet chocolate, coffee, molasses, with a hint of bitterness and a dry finish. As it warmed up a little bit, a lot more of the aroma and flavors came through. A decent thick body with out too much carbonation. Pretty solid, as per usual from Rogue. StFun (535), Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 27, 2008 Not terrible by a long shot, but still just slightly above average when it comes to coffee porters and stouts. As other have said, this one is a little on the thing side; small brownish head and just a hint of lacing. Aroma is fairly bland, just hints of chocolate and mocha. The taste is about what you’d expect, average. However, this one gets better as you drink it the coffee flavor comes through in the aftertaste, and so it stays on the palate longer, and flavors the rest of the beer. I would have this again, but wouldn’t seek it out.
