| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 12, 2009 12 bottle served in a clear pint glass. Pour was black with 3 fingers of think tan head that had amazing retention, not to mention excellent lacing. Nose was roasted malts, coffee, and a light bouquet of fragrant hops. Taste was pretty simple, unfortunately. I only noticed the coffee bitter, which was very prevalent well into the finish, and some light chocolate at times. The body was also much thinner than I was expecting. Not a bad beer, but one I wouldn’t rush out to drink again. Rune (2845), Tromsø, Norway

Compact smell of dark fruits and sweet malts. Coffee and chocolate malts in flavour combined with dark fruits. Late arriving bitterness. Mid-sweet smooth on the palate. Medium bodied. Likeable, however, I must admit that I had expected a bit more (GBBF, 05.08.2009). yespr (12345), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Aroma is smooth coffee, chocolate and light floral to fruity hoppy. Bitter and light fruity flavoured. Distinct roasted malt flavoured, chocolate and coffee herbal and slight acidic flavour swept through. Nice full malt flavoured finish with a lingering roasted note and good hops fruit and bitter flavour counterbalance. sm89walt (456), Canterbury, Kent, England
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Updated: Sep 4, 2009355ml bottle. A very dark brown beer - an opaque centre with a lighter brown border - supports a large, dense and lasting tan head. A heavy, full lacing coats the glass. The milk chocolate aroma is noticeable from the pour; on closer inspection there’s a light roasted malt character backed up by raisin and a creamy chocolate milkshake note. Milk chocolate sweetness and roasted malt notes begin on the tongue, then progress to a stronger dark chocolate and coffee bitterness. Liquorice sweet on the aftertaste. The bitterness lingers but leaves the palate quite clean. Medium carbonation, medium body with a lasting dry finish and a slightly oily mouthfeel. arrogantb (712), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2009 This beer is deep black with a head the color of a chocolate malted. Smells a little bit roasted and a little like some good coffee. The taste is chocolate and dark, but not too strong. This is one of the first Rogue beers I really like and I didn’t really taste the "Rogue" flavor I get from most of their beers.
