Dec 22, 2009 650ml bottle. Looks great in the glass. Dark brown with a rich creamy coffee coloured head. Looks robust and hearty. Mild cocoa aroma with an earthy backdrop. Burnt malt and roasted coffee bean flavours abound. The flavour lingers on the palate. Tastes like a mix between a Belgian Strong Ale and a Stout.

Dec 21, 2009 Dark and rich in colour, on pour. The hops are aggressive. Very festive seasonally. Great after a day on the hill. Very much a eye opener!

Dec 19, 2009 Pours amber brown with a tan head. Aroma is citrusy, piny hops with a little bit of caramel and roasted malt. Flavor is a nice blend of citrusy hops with a nice malt backbone, that features a little bit of chocolate and brown sugar. Good stuff.

Dec 19, 2009 22oz bottle. Medium beige head atop clear dark copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, grapefruit, light metallic. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, caramel, some pine, light chocolate. Soft medium body, light effervescence, fairly easy drinking.

Dec 18, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear copper colour with a bubbly tan head that lasts a while and leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma is both hoppy and malty with notes of toffee, pine, nuts molasses and some tropical fruit. Flavour is very much the same with an emphasis on the toffee maltiness. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a nice, long bitter finish. Quite similar to a couple of other Rogue beers but that’s not necessarily a bad thing; a very nice winter style American ale and one of the best recent releases from Rogue.

Dec 17, 2009 Bottle: Muddy mahogany, puffy off-white head. Fresh strong northwest hops and a muddled caramel malt note and some earthy prune notes. The flavor is slightly bitter with a balanced body and nothing really jumping out at me. Seems like a traditional winter ale with its aggressive dry hopping and mid-lovibond malts but they hold back with the actual gravity or bitterness. Chewy tail with a nice dull hop thud in the tail. Not the best choice of hops.
