RnH: truly one of the most peculiar beers I have ever tasted in my life. Pours a light amber... you’d never know what was lurking below... Honestly all i taste is liquid buttered popcorn!!!! Not a fan at all...

Dec 4, 2009 Bottle from Cracked Kettle, slightly past due date. Dark brown, amber body with healthy tan nose. Nice spicy nose of malts and nuts. Taste is quite thin, of rice and hops. Not much there. I am wondering if it’s slightly off. Warms up a bit and gets spicier in the finish.

Aroma: Aroma is strange, like burnt-buttered chalk, chocolate, soap, and a bit of tea
Appearance: Pours a brown color with a red hue and a thin beige head, with spotty lace
Flavor: Taste is light-medium sweet with a flavor that is (specifically in how unusual it is) similar to the nose
Palate: Palate is lighter then I expected, finish is a bit abrupt, though not bad overall
Overall Impression:
I’m not sure I’ve described the aroma correctly, but I couldn’t figure out better words for it...Burnt smells, chalk, and soap are all there no doubt, but I’m not sure they are the best descriptors. Anyway, this isn’t is a bad beer, just a darn strange beer, I guess the soba is what gives it these strange characteristics, though I can’t say I’m too familiar with what the soba grain brings to a beer, other then the "buckwheat." Regardless, it is certainly interesting, and I like it when a beer is interesting, even if I don’t love the flavor.

Nov 21, 2009 30th August 2008. Very dark brown clear ale. Smooth and creamy malt with a hint of chocolate. Smooth all the way to the very light toasty finish. Just a hint of hops in the aftertatse.

Nov 19, 2009 Dark brown pour, light tan head. Roasty and oddly buttery in the aroma. Flavor follows with some toasted malt, butter and maybe a hint of light coffee.

Nov 18, 2009 22 oz, rogue garage sale, about 3 bucks a bottle. A dark color with a thick head. Almost tastes like a Porter this was a nice malty beer with a good use of hops. Not bad and a very intresting brew.

Nov 11, 2009 Tap at Rattle’n’Hum. Tons of buttered popcorn, wheat in the aroma. Very buttery, toasty, caramel, garbage flavor. Majorly flawed.

Oct 27, 2009 On tap at rattle n hum. Nose is exactly or butterscotch. Tastes of vanilla, butterscotch, pears and salt. Buttery and creamy. Weird, really really weird. I respect the creatively and uniqueness, but I would not want to have this again.
