Pours a light amber... you’d never know what was lurking below... Honestly all i taste is liquid buttered popcorn!!!! Not a fan at all...

Dark brown, amber body with healthy tan nose. Nice spicy nose of malts and nuts. Taste is quite thin, of rice and hops. Not much there. I am wondering if it’s slightly off. Warms up a bit and gets spicier in the finish. ben4321 (1040), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma: Aroma is strange, like burnt-buttered chalk, chocolate, soap, and a bit of tea
Appearance: Pours a brown color with a red hue and a thin beige head, with spotty lace
Flavor: Taste is light-medium sweet with a flavor that is (specifically in how unusual it is) similar to the nose
Palate: Palate is lighter then I expected, finish is a bit abrupt, though not bad overall
Overall Impression:
I’m not sure I’ve described the aroma correctly, but I couldn’t figure out better words for it...Burnt smells, chalk, and soap are all there no doubt, but I’m not sure they are the best descriptors. Anyway, this isn’t is a bad beer, just a darn strange beer, I guess the soba is what gives it these strange characteristics, though I can’t say I’m too familiar with what the soba grain brings to a beer, other then the "buckwheat." Regardless, it is certainly interesting, and I like it when a beer is interesting, even if I don’t love the flavor.

Smooth all the way to the very light toasty finish. Just a hint of hops in the aftertatse. daknole (2984), Plantation, Florida, USA

Almost tastes like a Porter this was a nice malty beer with a good use of hops. Not bad and a very intresting brew. puzzl (2635), New York, New York, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2009 On tap at rattle n hum. Nose is exactly or butterscotch. Tastes of vanilla, butterscotch, pears and salt. Buttery and creamy. Weird, really really weird. I respect the creatively and uniqueness, but I would not want to have this again.
