Commercial Description:
Rogue's annual holiday offering, Santa's Private Reserve, is a variation of the classic Saint Rogue Red, but with double the hops--including Chinook, and Centennial, and a mystery hop called Rudolph by head brewer John "more hops" Maier! This holiday elixir is brewed with two-row Harrington, Klages and Munich malts, along with Hugh Baird 30-37, Carastan 13-17, and Crystal 70-80 malts, plus free range coastal water and proprietary top-fermenting Pacman yeast.

This is agood beer it has a nice warm malty presence nutty aromas and fruity undertones. I t resembles a hearty brown ale with some decent hop flavors and aromas. The hops seem to be more of a spicy earthy english nature and balance the malt well. All in all I consider this a good Hiolliday Ale and it falls nicely into that catagorie. Warm nutty rich and malty well balanced.

bitter, hoppy. initially overwhelming, but it mellows nicely for a dryer aftertaste. not for those afraid of hops.

Pours red amber color with nice frothy off white head. Aroma has hint of fruit and spice. Incredibly smooth balanced slightly sweet complex malt taste with a strong but balanced hop aftertaste.

Pours dark amber with a small frothy head. Aroma is fruity with some subtle hops. Hops are less subtle in the body but are balanced nicely by the robust fruit forward ale flavor. finishes warm and with some excellent spices. A very enjoyable beer! Merry Christmas!

I thought this was going to be hop overload but its actually fairly subtle. No where near as hot as I thought it was going to be. This is something I’d match with Pizza. Pizza beer! Creamy finish.

The nose is mild, but delivers a very crisp balance of malt and hops. This ale pours a crisp clean amber with a nice head. Flavor is very nice. Taste of nutty maltyness with the nicest balance of a very crisp hop. I really could drink this year round. Check it out!

lots of hop and citrus on the nose. brown pour with a decent frothy off white head on it. Surprisingly mild on the taste. little bit of hops, some caramel notes with just a hint of bitter. clean caramel lingers on the palate.

Slightly hazy amber color. Aroma is of hops, malts, barley, spices, and some slight citrus. Taste is more of floral hops with some malts and earthy spices. Has a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. Not too bad. I was expecting something a little different though.

Bottle 25.4 oz. Pours a hazy copper with a one finger, off-white head. Aroma of chesnuts, hops, barley, vanilla, roasted malts and honey. Medium, crispy body with a nice, if a bit alcoholic, mouthfeel. Decent finish. Good seasonal amber from Rogue.
