Commercial Description:
Sesquicentennial Ale, dedicated to Oregon: The State of Beer, was designed by Rogue brewmaster John Maier to showcase Oregon-grown ingredients. The initial brew features 5 ingredients: Two-row and Munich malts - a portion of which were grown in Oregon’s Klamath Basin - Willamette hops from Rogue Farms’ hop yard in Independence, Rogue’s proprietary PacMan yeast from Hood River and free range coastal water. Sesquicentennial Ale is brewed at Rogue’s Newport brewery. Even the bottles are from Oregon, manufactured at Owens-Illinois’ Portland plant and serigraphed at TriS in Tualatin. “With Rogue’s deep roots in the Oregon brewing community, their years of award-winning beers, history of charitable giving and new foray into growing their own malting barley and hops, they were the natural choice to brew Oregon’s sesquicentennial beer,” said Melisa McDonald, Executive Director of Oregon 150.In the fall, Rogue will brew another batch of Sesquicentennial Ale using malting barley from Rogue Farms’ barley ranch in Tygh Valley, making it the first all-Oregon ingredient artisan beer.

22 oz bomber. Happy Birthday Oregon. Amber coloured ale with a huge, attractive thick yellow/white head. Handsome and rugged like the State. Aroma is very malty, toffeeish, crackers with lovelly fresh hopping in the back. Great tasting malt driven beer ..yet balanced out by tough hopping. Very chewy, Great on the palate..thick and luxurious. Over all a great beer here from Rogue.

Hazy amber color. Pleasant ale, with good caramel flavor and good hopping; unfortunately there is a light veggie and apple touch too, that is suspicious.

A nice fresh hop aroma on the initial pour that quickly dissipates. very nice amber color with an off white head that quickly goes away as well. not a very hoppy taste but has a nice malty finish. All those Oregon ingredients make it delicious, although more Oregon hops wouldn’t hurt.

22 ounce bottle thanks to BrewDad. Pours a dark golden color with a medium white head. A nice aroma; mild hops, earthy and fresh, some rich caramel and the ever present Rogue Pac-Man yeast. The flavor is nice; smooth and rich caramel, earthy pac-nw hops, sort of dry and quite flavorful. Nice. A really nice amber.

( 22oz bottle, courtesy of AmEricanbrew ) Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma of florals, nuts, caramel, and orange. Flavor of hops (grass, herbal) and caramel malt with a bitter finish.

( 22oz bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew) Pours opaque orange-yellow. Nose of honey and light citrus hops. Taste of orange blossom honey, a little hoppy, finishes sweet and has a thick body.

Tap at Rattle’n’Hum. Fresh squash, autumn foliage aroma, bubblegum and clove. Sticky caramel and leaf flavor. A decent and somewhat unique balance between the hop and malt, this thankfully shys away from the traditional Amber formula.

Copper orange, with little head. Caramel sweet aroma with balancing hop character. Honey and hop flavour dominates. Light-weight in the mouth (but not thin). Very sessionable. Nice, but not sensational.

Bottle thanks to americanbrew. The smell is wort, sweet, ok, but seemingly missing. The look is golden in color with a light head. The taste is sweet, wort, malts, and hops.
