The pour was a dark black with a rich brown head. The aroma came out as I was pouring it- hints of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and sweetness, almost fruity. Taste was great- started with the roasted malt, sweetness, coffee, some bitterness, and hints of chocolate. Just as good or maybe better than I remembered it. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Nicely packaged stout. The bottle gets you in a good mood, the pour adds with the releasing of a thick coffe head and strong chocolate and roasted malt notes. Flavor is spot on for a stout. Easy t drink, stronger than I thought with above average malt character. Some hops linger for a great all around drinking experience. djd07 (741), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown with a small frothy tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roasted malt with chocolate and coffee. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet malt with chocholate and coffee. Easy to drink a good stout from Rogue. Iceman82 (26), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Pours black in color with a light tan head that has pretty decent retention. Aroma is full of dark roast coffee and somke hints of dark choloate. Flavors of espresso beans, chocolate malt and a light nuttiness. Very dry and bittering on the palate. Light hoppiness. Overall, its a good simple stout, I’d drink it again... just not one of my favorites. iamqueensblvd (201), , Iowa, USA
