Roasty almost smokey malt aroma. Flavor of chocolate and dark malt. Body is medium thin and high carbonation. Pretty good, but not great. SuperDave70 (1158), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 19, 2008 Clear dark black pour with a small tan head. Nice aroma of roasted malt and coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is sweet and malty at first sip, giving away to dark roastiness. Just a touch of detectable hoppiness. Long bitter finish. A good stout. Strong aroma of chocolate and perhaps a bit of molasses. Flavor is dominated by coffee bitterness which isn’t entirely balanced out by the chocolatey sweetness also present. Long lingering bitterness at the end. Very solid stout. tangentrider (144), USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 14, 2008 The aroma: chocolate, coffee, resin?, earthy, alcohol, soy sauce. The appearance: black. The flavor: light sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, slightly salty. The palate is lacking, but with a light body, thin feel, soft carbonation, and a flat, lingering finish. On the whole, this beer was pretty disappointing due to the 98 rating. It is not even as good as some other Rogue ales in my opinion. Probably tastes better colder, but then again, if it has to be colder, does it really taste better, or is it just that you can’t taste it? leninthedesert (112), Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2008 Robust stout with great character and style points in my book. Had this on draft at the Yard House in Las Vegas, Nevada. Burnt malt and chocolate in the initial taste. Mouthfeel is heavy...like thick espresso. Finishes smooth and mellow.
