Opaque black color with a brown head that’s full and fluffy when you first pour the beer but does not persist all that long. Nose of coffee. Mocha flavor with some subtle wood notes. A nice hoppy finish.

The darkest black colour you can imagine is poured with a chocolate coloured head. Nice retention in the head. Many different aromas can be picked out of this beer, oak, chocolate, coffee, caramel, moca. It is not overwhelmingly sweet or even too rich, just a nice balance of malts and hops.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours perfectly dark brown to black with a dense chocolate brown head. Aroma is of caramel, chocolate and mild roasted malt, all in a nice blend with a slight wet woody hops note. Flavour is medium sweet with a solid liqourice note all the way through, mixed with a light coffee note. Shows a light spiced/ashtray like note to a smooth chocolate malt and roasted malt base. Slowly building bitterness and mild fruity hops note into the finish.

22 oz bomber poured opaque black with a tall frothy tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, and a touch of hops. Outstanding taste including the chocolate and caramel, toasted - almost burnt - malts, well balanced with a touch of hops bitterness and a coffee aftertaste. Really a very complex beer, has a creamy malty mouthfeel and nice carbonation. A terrific beer - seems like it would go particularly well with a fine cigar.

bottle thanks to swalden_28. pours dark color with tan head. aroma was chocolate with hints of malt. flavor has strong alcohol with hints of hops at the end. not a big fan of this one, but that can contribute to the terrapin oatmeal stout i had before hand.
