Aroma a mix of chocolate and coffee. Taste of burnt chocolate and coffee as well. Malt-dominated aftertaste, not as sweet as expected. billtheman (50), milford, Delaware, USA

Its s super dark beer. Plenty of taste, just enough chocolate so that you realize it is there without it being overwhelming to the taste buds. Good after taste, pleasing appearance and aroma. I found it a good evening beer, after a days work when you just want to settle down with something satisfying to the palate. I would recommend this to any beer lover. alobar (1032), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

Deep black in color with an attractive hazelnut colored head. The aroma is deep and sweet, full of chocolate and coffee. The finish is malty but a bit dry. popkow (113), New York, New York, USA

This Rogue meets the challange of a true classic stout that is comparable to a Brooklyn Chocalate stout. Burnt sour malt meets the high acohol to create a decent beer. bhops (334), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Pours dark with a dark brown head. Pours thin. mild roasted aroma. Nice up front flavor...tiny bit of coffee, burned malt. Taste is gone instantly when you swallow with minimal after taste. A surprisingly easy drinking stout. I have a hard time considering a top tier stout but at the same time I have a hard time rating it average. It’s a very enjoyable beer. afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 29, 2008 bottle. pours nearly black with a thick foamy brown head. smells of roasted coffee beans and a bit of the citrus character everyone else on here seems to smell. lovely deep roasted/burnt malt flavor profile. body is surprisingly light and smooth. the finish is long and bitter/burnt and has a slight metallic character to it. I used to consider this the best stout out there but now that I have a bunch more under my belt I can say that it isn’t the best, but it is a very good one.
