Aroma is heavenly - strong, smoky, overtones of roast coffee and more than a hint of chocolate. Taste is like a fine mocha, with strong coffee and chocolate flavors and pleasant smoky/burnt hints. Texture is velvety smooth and most pleasing. It would be tough to improve this one! DTM (541), Winters, California, USA

This brew was excellently smooth for the genre and included slight tastes of espresso and chocolate. Overall, it was rich and thick, but it’s not at the top of my list for stouts. hillfiiiiire (285), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 3, 2008 It poured a wonderful opaque black with a pleasant tan head that left a little lacing. It of course smelled of roasted malts and chocolate. The flavor was a bit oaky with a bittersweet chocolate with some coffee thrown into the mix. The mouthfeel was quite thin though, and that was where this beer fell off. Otherwise, it was a very strong, but not too bold, stout. chicagodri (1057), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2008 I thought this was a pretty solid stout. Light aroma, but well balanced flavor. Nice taste of bittersweet chocolate, and a little bit of roasted malt. I doesn’t have the boldness and knock you out flavor of some of the higher rated stouts, but this is a stout you can just sit down and drink. Well done. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 2, 2008 Disappointed by this one. Aroma is heavy chocolate and cocoa with a bit of hops, yeast, and oak. Pour yields a large creamy brown head with excellent lacing and an extremely dark brown body. Taste is of strong coffee, but it is quite watery. Mouthfeel is watery too. BOLTZ7555 (1096), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2008 This is a stout that is an every day type of beer. Although this doesn’t possess the boldness of other stouts (Speedway Stout, Bell’s Batch 7000, Yeti Imperial Stout), it holds up well in terms of balance and quality. Visually appealing, amazing bouquet, and extremely smooth...keep this one available for a rainy day. topherh (915), Kearney, Missouri, USA
