Pours black as night with a sturdy, cream-shaded head. Aroma is potent with a bouquet of rich roasted barley and malts. Flavor is complex. A combination of flavorful, and bitter hops and sweet, deep, rich malt toastiness. Notes of coffee and maybe a bit of chocolate. Nice smooth mouthfeel . Good stout.

Poured a deep rich black-brown body with a healthy tan head. Thick and roasty with a nose of hardy malts and piny hops. Toffee, coffee, roasted malt flavor. Well crafted and superb! One of Rogue’s best beers.

Draft at 2 Amy’s in DC. Pours a black color, tiny dark brown head. The taste was coffee, and roasted malt, but very smooth and subtle. The taste was much more understated than most stouts. This is an excellent brew.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark black with a light brown head. The taste is really smooth and earthy. Some hops, a dry roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and some yeast. A good drink for anytime.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Opaque brown colour with a medium brown head, slight carbonation and lacing. Aroma is mostly unsweet chocolate and a touch hops. Flavour is a great blend of more chocolate, bitter hops and a smooth smokey finish. Very pleasant.

From bottle. Sweet liquorice aroma. Jet black in colour with an off white brown bread head. Pours thick and smooth. Little thin in texture, charcoal, coffee, roasted malts. Decent stout.

Bottle. One of my favorite stouts, with a nice brown head and a unique flavor. Malty, roasted and bitter when it needs to be, with dark chocolate notes and a delicious (sweeter) aftertaste. It has that underlying Rogue flavor that is hard to put your finger on (the Pacman yeast? the water?), and you can tell that this is a high-quality , well-balanced product.

Bottle at Toms Ultimate Glasgow Tasting: Poured a dark brown with a thin light brown head. Light dark chocolate malt with some nice hops. Nice sweet smokey roastedness taste that has chocolate smooth finish.
