| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Pours a rich, dark black color with nice tan head. Great lacing and great head retention for that matter. Aromas are wonderful with roasted nut, espresso, and a slight citrus/fruit element. It is full bodied with nice mouthfeel...thick and viscous, but smooth and satisfying. The full flavors of roasted malt, barley are nice but the "oaty" flavors are predominate which was nice. The hop notes are significant enough to balance out the insane sweetness of the malt backbone. Very well balanced. DaMenace123 (252), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Tap at Ginger Man. Black pour, no head. Barely any aroma. Flavor is chocolate and roasted malt, a bit simple. FlssmrBrewAlum (1182), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Poured on draft at The Sanctuary (Iowa City, IA) in a conical pint. Color is practically black with possibly some ruby undertones. It’s hard to tell in the light. Respectable head that resembles cocoa. Smell of malt and coffee dominates with some milder chocolate undertones. Sharp pleasing taste on initial. Roasted malts for sure. Coffee definately and a slight chocolate. Smooth but fierce. Head disappears but clings to the glass. Hop profile evident but extremely well balanced. An extremely well done stout. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2007 Updated: Dec 15, 2007Pours very dark and opaque... mocha... nearly black with maybe the darkest head I’v ever seen... a legitimate full, actually brown, head. Aroma is a little hoppier than most stouts... fruity and chocolatey. A bit of a flowery character in the taste... hoppy and chocolatey with a little coffee taste, too.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 16, 2007 Blackest stout I’ve ever seen. Head was charcoal colored. The aroma was a mild molasses. Tastes like burnt chocolate and tobacco. Dry and ultra-heavy malts. A little too intense for my liking. Boliv (207), New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 15, 2007 Bomber. Poured jet black with a nice tan head. Aroma full of malts, coffee, chocolate. Flavor was rich and deep, filled with chocolate, espresso, malts, and a nice finish of hops to round it all out. I waited a long time to try this one, and it didn’t disappoint. beerlord (215), tonawanda, New York, USA

Malty roasted aroma with some hops evedent in the boquet. Big full roast flavor, complex, hops definatly in there, well balanced, medium mouth feel. Chocolte covered cherries adn a touch of citruis. ONe of my all time favorite stouts. Strykzone (1499), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2007 650 ml. bottle. Pours as black as used motor oil with a very dark brown head. Delicious aroma of malt and dark fruit. It feels silky smooth in the mouth. Lots of roasted malt in the flavor as well as chocolate and plum. Was wood used in aging? Flavor hints that it was. This beer is thick, rich, creamy, and delicious.
