| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 28, 2009 Bomber from Mission Valley Bevmo ($5.89). Pours an almost pitch black with only a little light shining through around the edges. The finger and a half of mocha colored head soon subsides to only a thin layer. Moderate aroma of roasted malts, wood, and some chocolate/coffee accents. Flavor of mildly roasted malt, wood, earthiness (as in dirt), and some coffee. Some very dark chocolate emerges late, contributing (along with noticeable hops) to a bitter finish. A bit light for my tastes, but still quite good. matt7215 (994), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Pours black with thin mahogany highlights and a 3 finger creamy caramel tan head that has good retention and fades to a really thick skim after a couple minutes. Aroma is roast, chocolate, coffee, wholesome cereal grain, dark caramel, and a little char. Flavor is lots of roast, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, some dried nuts, coffee, some char, a few woody and dark fruit notes come out as it warms. Palate is medium bodied, somewhat slick, creamy and has a dry finish with a light, but active carbonation. This is a really nice stout, one of the better stouts I have had actually. drowland (1429), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2009 Intriguing. This is a really solid stout with obvious coffees and deep chocolates, but it is strangely missing that sweet and sour taste you often get with American breweries. It’s really good and a nice change. wilderthanyou (423), Guelph, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 6, 2009 Pours a motor oil with a thin shortly lived brown head. The aroma is good, but leaves something to be desired, standard notes of roastiness, coffee, and chocolate, with a little vanilla bean in there too. The flavour is again, pretty standard, but with a strange sort of fruit/vegetable flavour in the beginning, which quickly fades to chocolate, espresso, vanilla, ends on a hop/chocolate bitter note. All and all a decent stout, just nothing special here that sets it apart. bw1982 (79), , Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 4, 2009 Bottle (650 ml). Pours black with a great thick tan head. Aromas have roasted nuts, some leather and some coffee. The flavor is similar, with great bitterness. There is a lot of chocolate on the flavor as well, and an almost peaty finish.
