A solid black stout with a small brown head that never suprise nor let you down. Aroma and flavour of typical light roasted stout components such as dark chocolate, dark fruit and light cocoa powder. Clean slick mouthfeel which resaults in a very drinkable brew.

^attractive ^drinkable session stout.
i love this beer after a vigorous pour to release some of the co2, and a little time to warm up too, as the burnt-citrus-seed character of the cascades seems to fade out and a brighter fruitiness emerges as it warms.

No doubt this is a great stout and one of my favorites. But, after some recent revelatory experiences, I have to say it’s a fairly simple stout, just done well. There isn’t anything that pops out but it’s very well rounded and drinkable.

Opaque oil black with 1.5" of dimpled tan head. Aroma is roasty with coffee, cocoa, and a bit of graham cracker. Taste is firmly bittered with prominent hop notes in addition to the chocolate and coffee from the aroma. $6/22oz

22 oz bottle. The pour is black with a medium tan head. The nose is roasted dark malt, chocolate, coffee, and small amounts of hops. The taste is similar to the smell with a good hop bite on the back end and a small amount of smoke. Nice drinkable stout.

Bottle. 25.4oz. Pours deep, dark brown, nearly black with an extremely creamy, lacy beige head. Aroma of chocolate, cinnamon, clove, barley, roasted malts, and nutmeg. Smoothy, silky body with a very moderate, yet delicately spicy mouthfeel. Slow, bittersweet finish. Great stout from Rogue.

22 oz. bottle. Pours dark black with creamy frothy brown head. Smells of roasted dark malts, slight chocolate / coffee aroma. Hops also noticeable in aroma. Taste is of rich, roasty malt, balanced with slight hoppiness on finish. As advertised pretty mellow stout, very drinkable, nice, nothing too exciting here though.

On tap at a Rogue bar in Portland. Deep black with a cream top. Nuts, chocolate, cream and a bit of fruit. Good balance of aroma and body, both of which is not overpowering. Bitterness and coffee at the end but finish is shorter than expected. This is pretty impressive.
