On tap @ Brouwer’s. Looks a nice thin black. Aroma is hoppy and fairly malted. Couldn’t tell it was 9% whatsoever. Nicely bittered with citrusy and pineapple notes. A bit dry. Goodness!

Aug 19, 2008 A really good bitterness, enjoyed on-tap yesterday at the Tap and Mallet. Perhaps the way it was served, was getting only a modest roast and citrus hop. Dark ruby colour, lots of creative lace on my glass.Very fresh, was getting chocolate malt and coffee.Drinkable but more of a sipper than an IPA. Cross betwee IPA and a shwartzbeer, with good citrus.

Aug 2, 2008 On tap at Green Dragon in Portland--Poured a dark brown-black body with a wispy white head. Citrus malty hoppy nose. Grassy, crisp, delicious.

Jun 24, 2008 (draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Labeled as Brutal Bitter, but the color and taste definitely don’t match up. Clear black color with a puffy tan head. Aroma is lightly hoppy with a touch of malts. Some dry grass and floral notes as well. Flavor was quite bitter like the regular Brutal Bitter with a good flavor of hops and a roasted malt backbone. Finishes smooth with a bitter and chocolatey finish. I really enjoyed it.

Jun 2, 2008 Draught from Tylers. Bartender told me this Brutal Bitter, but when I saw the dark brown color I was thrown. Then I tasted it, definitely not Brutal Bitter. Maybe she meant black Brutal Bitter or maybe I didn’t hear her. I digress...This beer is similar to BB, but this has much more roasted malt and cocoa notes. Alcohol nicely hidden and pretty well balanced overall. No off flavors or any noticeable flaws. Tasty.
