Just had my first one today. Has a good taste and nice aftertaste. No bitter after taste which makes me like it. Liked the smoky taste to it, different will try again sometime.

650mL bomber poured into tulip glass. Pours a hazy copper color. Thick head rapidly disappears. Smokey campfire aroma is very apparent. Taste is smoke and malt with some hops and citrus. Is also quite dry.

Pours hazy amber, off white head. Nice smoky nose, subtle though - not in your face.
Flavour is nice and smoky, not too strong though. Mild bitterness, hoppy finish which mingles nicely with the remaining smoke. A solid and accessible rauchbier.

Bottle. Clear amber body with a creamy off-white head that lasts a little while. Nose has notes of smoke, malt, caramel and bacon. Flavour is just about the same as the aroma with a hint of sweetness. Light body and mouthfeel with a medium to long finish that is dry and slightly sweet. Overall a very nice smoked ale, milder in flavour than a lot of others, but a very pleasant beer all the same.

Amber color with a medium-sized tanned head that leaves some lacings. The smell is rather malty with notes of notes of butterscotch. Some earthy hops and a hint of lemon-peel. The smoke is noticeable, but very faint - just a hint of smoked ham in the background. However, as the beer warms up, the smoke seems to get more pronounced. But it’s still very mellow. It’s quite balanced, but for a smoked beer it’s not very smoky. The taste is rather sweet with biscuity malts to the fore. Some diacetyl. Earthy and citric hop notes complement the malts nicely. As in the smell, the smoke (we’re talking smoked ham rather than forest fire here) is very restrained and doesn’t get noticeable until the finish where it is complemented by some bitterness, citric hops and a hint of minerals. Well hidden alcohol. Medium body, medium carbonation. I was quite underwhelmed by this one. It is far from the original German smoked beers. This is more like an American mildly hoppy beer with a touch of smoke to it. It’s to clean and uncharismatic. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

Copper color with decent off-white head. Nose of smoke and malt. Big flavor of smoke that fades to a bitterness. Flavor is of cheap bacon with a hint of liquid smoke and off plastic taste.

0.65 l bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy dark amber color, foams over. The aromas of leathery, tarry and barnyardy smoke. Malty and smoky flavor with bacon, tar, wet wood and fruity rogue house flavor. Bitter, smoky and yeasty finish. Fairly carbonated and full bodied, oily palate when yeast is added. Surprisingly barnyardy-leathery smoke aroma and flavor, not completely my kind of smoked.

Pours a hazy orange/amber color with a 1.5 finger foamy yellowish beige head that quickly fizzles away into a lasting ring. Minimal lacing. Smoked malt aroma with hints of butane, charcoal, bacon, and a surprisingly strong citrus hop presence. Resinous chewy mouthfeel with a very roasted smoked malt flavor with hints of charcoal, campfire ash, barbecued bacon and butane as well as a crisp dry bitter citrus hop presence. The citrus hops sweeten things up a bit and provide an interesting balance to the smokey flavor.

Watery and cloudy brown with rapidly disappearing head. Aroma of frying bacon. Taste is gritty, smoky but a bit thin on body. Brief aftertaste of campfire. Interesting.
