Bottle from Total Wine in Tempe. Pours like peach nectar with a trim white head. Smells and tastes of pulpy orange juice, clove, pineapple, and mild wheat. Strikes me as a cross between Stella and a Hefe. Meh.

Sampled at the Portland Rogue pub. Somewhat watery with a strong wheat presence with very little detectable orange flavor. Just a faint honey note - so why the name? Tight and abundant carbonation, cloudy wheat beer color, interesting but not good enough to make me want to go back.

Hazy gold pour, small white head. Wheat grain, honey, citrus, orange peel, hint of spice, and herbal notes. Decent beer, easy to drink.

650ml brown bottle. Cloudy yellow colour, like extra hazy grapefruit juice. Lots of sediment in the bottle. The head is white and settles into a small thin cap, and leaves no lace on the glass. Wheaty aroma, dryish, a little citrus, but basically underwhelming. Flavour fairs a little better with some orange sweetness, a little citrus tang, wheaty malts. Dry finish, trace hops but a little watery. Medium creamy body, medium carbonation. Tastes like a standard wheat ale, not bad, but average, it could work as a summer refresher.

Rogue Somer Honey Orange Wheat is a cloudy bright golden ale with a thick, dense, orangish white head that has outstanding retention and lacing. It has a tangy lemon and orange aroma. It has an incredibly smooth medium body with a clean finish. It’s nice, well balanced and simple. There are notes of chamomile, lemon, orange and mint and the bitterness is nice and wooden. It’s kind of like tea.

(bottle - 22 oz) Hazy light gold color with a ton of white foam and loads of carbonation. Aroma is light and zesty with some mild hints of orange, yeast, wheat, and straw. Flavor begins with a dry citrus flavor followed by some honey sweetness and then a very dry and bitter wheat middle. The sweetness disappears and only leaves the dry straw notes. Bitter at the finish.

(Rating #2635)

From a bomber. looks like unfiltered hefe. Citrusy and perhaps hoppy to the nose. No head. Very good carbonation on the palate. Tingly light bitter. Citrus rind. Back of throat biting impact builds thru the session. Not as tart or sour as I expected. Many ale attributes. Each swig brings renewed vigor and each swig swallow brings that back of throat bite. Mildly gratifying.
