Rogue Somer Orange Honey Ale

Appearance: Lightly hazed, light copper body with a very thin, slightly fizzy, white head. Smell: Soft aroma smelling of honey, light spice, basic barley, delicate wheat, citrus, and a few hints of flowers. Taste: Light pale malts with a hearty, invigorating addition of crisp wheat and a medium amount of sweetness present. The additions of honey, citrus peel, and chamomile are all there, but are delivered fairly subtly. Faintly spicy hops with an overall clean (surprisingly low) bitterness. Transient traces of sweet honey and citrus prior to the drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A pleasant, summertime brew from Rogue sans the seemingly obligatory coarse Rogue bitterness. Wait. Was I the only guy who honesty liked this? Three times this month alone I’ve had entered a bar to hear: There’s the guy who likes Somer Orange! Typically, it’s followed by "GET HIM!" Speaking as the one guy who liked this beer, I must admit that I don’t actively buy it, as it’s not available in a six-pack (at least not in my area).

I looked at this beer and said, "orange honey ale? theres no way this is going to be good." Then I poured it, and it looked like it wouldn’t be any good. Then I tasted it... and it sucked just like I thought. BLAH.

Bottle. Pours a pale golden with a small white head. Aroma is malty and seems a bit unbalanced, kind of reminds me of a Bud or MIller aroma. Lacks any hint of fruit or honey. Flavor is light with honey and some citrus notes, particularly lemon and orange. This beer really didn’t do anything for me.

Beautiful orange color on the pour. Bright white head. citrus and fruit notes on the nose and palate. finished with a wheat beer flavo. i hate to say it but i would rather have a Blue Moon :(.

pours a very hazy yellow with a medium size white foamy head, and some lacing. smell is of wheat, spice, coriander, and a slight bit of orange peel. taste is smooth, spice, some orange peel, a few hops, a bit of sweetness in the back, and wheat, ends dry and just a little bitter. i would not call this a fruit beer, it is more of a wheat.

Bomber from Country Club Liquors. Nose of Wheaty grain with a honey and a banana note and some bubblegum. Lightly hazy golden yellow with a big white head. Flavor is light orange, spiciness, and pasty yeastiness.

Bottle: Pours a yellowish golden with a dense white head. Fairly fresh aroma- has a clean wheaty character, mild coriander notes and a fresh citrus note. Crisp light body. The flavor has some wheaty character- a touch of mild lemon peel and later spicy notes of stale white pepper. Not bad overall, just one dimensional and macro feeling.

Pours a pale golden color with a thick, white, foamy head. Aroma of yeast and hops. Taste is the same. I didn’t smell or taste Orange or Honey. It is however, medium sweet This isn’t bad more of a Hefe. then an Ale.
