| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2009 Rohrbach Dry Hopped Stock Ale is a cloudy honey colored ale with a dense off-white head that has good retention. It smells like dry hops: Leafy, with a lot of citrus peel. It’s medium bodied and flat, with a pretty clean finish that’s a little acidic. It’s quite bitter with notes of citrus and grass. Yeah, it’s all hops here. The aftertaste is bitter.
[Sampled at the 2009 Flower City Brewers’ Fest at Frontier Field, Rochester, NY] Earlier Rating: 3/26/2009 Total Score: 3 Rohrbach Stock Ale is a pretty clear light amber ale with a small white head that fades. There is not too much aroma. There is a slight whiff of malt and molasses, but the hops aren’t coming through. It’s medium-light bodied and crisp. It’s well bittered and zippy. The balance is pretty good. It’s OK, but I think I need to sit down with a full pint of this and review it again. Make that a growler. Ron (1035), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2009 Poured like a golden amber. Big hops aroma with citrus. Nice balance with the malts smoothing out the hops. I’m starting to get used to these hoppy beers. jb (1056), Rochester, New York, USA

Grapefruit and pine, heavy and nice. The palate is big and dominated by the hop-monster. Good summer beer and what I needed after - you guessed it - mowing the lawn. zach8270 (2129), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma is very floral and fragrant with lots of hops, perfume, and earth. Flavor is very hoppy at the start with a smooth malt balance and a semi-sweet hint at the end. Finishes smooth with a lingering bitter aftertaste. Rather nice. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Amber colour with absolutely no head. Bright-fragrant hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour with a great malt balance. Aftertaste bittered from the hops...fairly nice. Overall, a good beer, much better than the first tasting (see below). The batch at the Old Toad is currently not worth tasting. I had this beer on draught at the brewpub in Rochester, New York on 11-October-2003.
Old Toad (Draught):
Copper colour with a very thin white head. Malty aroma with a VERY strong vinegary aroma...not pleasant! Medium-bodied; Strong flavour filled with aggressive malt - very medicinal and the vinegary flavour propogates to the flavour. Aftertaste displays noticeable alcohol and some malt and bittering characteristics. Overall, not great and not reccomended! I had this pint on draught at the Old Toad in Rochester, New York on 09-October-2003.
