Eyedrinkale (3111), Beer Town, New York, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottle. Puffy white head with a light red body/ The head collapses after two minutes though. Aroma is cherry hard candy. Flavor is similar but just a but sweeter. Nice maltiness and the body is actually pretty good. I like the toastiness of the beer but the flavors are a bit muted. Some sweetness with a sticky finish.
kiefdog (480), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 26, 2008 12oz bottle from local supermarket. Pours a dark amber color with a thin head. Little lacing. Aroma is actually better than a typical lager beer with notes of sweet malt, grass, grain. Flavor is also better than a typical lager, with some sweet malty caramel like notes with very little hoppy bitterness. Generally medium body with a smooth, sweet finish. Much better than I anticipated given the Rolling Rock beers I have had in the past. Hinez57 (119), Clinton, Mississippi, USA Aug 23, 2008 Mild toast and base malt aroma. Dark straw/light amber color (not red), with a white head that surprisingly leaves light lacing. Grain and floral notes dominate, light herbal/grass. Nice non thin mouthfeel, clean quaffable finish. Comparison to Yuengling is an accurate one. This would be pretty darn good on a hot Mississippi afternoon, I’m surprised! ProBeerDrinker (13), , Florida, USA Aug 9, 2008 This would be an upgrade from the Rolling Rock that A.B. puts out now. It has a roasty, caramel, aroma and a medium sweetness, that was quite refreshing. It’s not the best red beer that I have had but it drinks well. hopscotch (4591), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle... Clear amber lager with a mid-sized, wispy, white head. Decent retention. Sweet, nicely toasted nose... biscuit, cookie and a little cheap perfume. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Leans on the sweet side of balance. Sweet toffee and restrained bitterness. Lightly acidic. Finishes sweet and grainy. PhillyBeer2112 (1861), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jun 6, 2008 An orangey caramel color, a vigorous pour forces a voluminous foamy head but it fades quickly to a thin layer of bubbles. Lucky this wasn’t skunked from the green bottle. Aroma is mostly bready, a touch grainy, maybe some grassy hops, or a good imagination. Clean sweet doughy malt flavors remind me quite a bit of regular Rolling Rock but this one at least has a fuller body and a touch deeper malt character.
