there are some serious issues with this beer, but i hope that the brewery gets all their stuff worked out and get this one on track. Georgia needs more micro breweries so i give them much respect for startin out, they just have to find a way for this pilsner to not taste like a cider with a huge amount of citric funk in it. actually, it tastes better than a pilsner, i kind of liked it even though it doesn taste like it should.

I’ll refrain from passing judgment on this brewery until later, but at the moment, they’re struggling with their beer. They’re brewing extract, but that doesn’t preclude them from making good beer. They are adding sugar to the extract when they make the beer and you can tell. I suspected sugar when I noticed this beer had a distinct cidery flavor and that was later confirmed by the waitstaff. There’s also a distinct, but not overwhelming sourness. This doesn’t follow the style of pilsner at all except for the color and body.

OK, I promise to re-rate if i go back and the beers have improved. i understand that this was their first go. but, this tasted more like a pale ale than a wheat beer (which is how it was listed on the menu, btw not as an amber...) It was pretty cloudy, but no head (the waitress later confessed that she kept taking the head off of it because she didn’t think most people liked to see it in their beer.) but, no real fruit flavors, no real anything except just that pale lager kind of taste. nothing exciting and i wonder what style he was actually trying for... would have been great to get to talk to him but he was on vaca. we shall return when b gets back to town and see if they got it right.
