Rome Union Porter

From tap at the brewpub, tap, menu and chalkboard mentions this only as Union Porter - Smoked lager was all gone. Pours pitch black with a dense light brown head settling to lasting and nice laces on the glass. Liqourice and light smoked aroma to the roasted malt beneath. Flavour is smooth malty with a nice roasted note and a quite delicate smoke note on top. Surprisingly smooth and light yet still very flavourful. Goes into a strange sweetish finish which sadly ruins the initial great experience.

Comments: Anisey porter with a firm cerealic maltiness and a rather subtle smoke touch. Lean-bodied and easy-drinking.
