| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 18, 2009 Draught at Barcade, New York Dark brown color. It has a quite good aroma combination: balanced chocolate, hop, caramel. The flavor is too dry, with strong chocolate and strong bitterness. Too much roasted malts at the end. Not for me. puzzl (2660), New York, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Tap at Barcade for the 5th Anniversary Party. A new NY brewer? This was the first I’d heard of them. Mildly hoppy, clean, nutty aroma. Brazen and bold. Full flavor, medium bodied, roast and carbonic acid. Kind of fishy. A better than average brown. I’ll be looking for more from these guys. blipp (1764), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Growler filled at Consumers in Niagara Falls. Deep ruby brown with a beige head. The aroma is sweet and roasty, with chocolate, hazelnut and a hint of smoke. The flavor starts sweet and roasty, with a smoky side that gets stronger as the beer warms. Lighter notes of chocolate and hazelnuts. Very good. Really more like a lightly smoked porter than a brown ale, but if you want to call it a brown ale, it’s a damn good one. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 18, 2008 The fact that this is a nut brown says it all to me. yes, like others have said, this comes off almost as a porter, it’s thick, it’s rich, it’s got a nuts roasted in chocolate taste with a very smooth finish. You’ll have to like dark beer to appreciate this nutty brown ale. Miver (580), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 17, 2008 On draft at brewpub. Poured deep brown in color with absolutely no head or hint of even one bubble. (even when agitated). Aroma of heavy roast, toffee and chocolate malt. Tastes of roasted chocolate, toffee, caramel, and nuts. This one could have passed as a porter. Wishing these had more carbonation. Nate (2569), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
