Commercial Description:
Train your taste buds on this one! We use six varieties of malt in our stout, including boxcar portions of chocolate malt which lends a roasted, mocha flavor to the beer. Rich and robust, Junction City Chocolate Stout is not for the faint of palate.

From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 12/10/2007 Chocolate aroma. Black and very smooth on the palate with a slightly bitter lasting roast finish.

Way too light with a slightly bitter and sour mouthfeel. Hints of creamy milk chocolate, lactic sweetness and this go straight from roasty to burnt. Not a good stout at all.

On tap @ The Bayou. Pours deep dark with big bubble dark tan head. The aroma has a nice roastiness to burnt malts, some nuttiness and chocolate. The taste is roasty malts to burnt malts that mingle with a mild tart malt astringency. The near dark chocolate note rises up about midway to add a nice additional level of complexity.

On tap at the Bayou. Pours a dark brown with a thin light beige head. The aroma is quite nutty and smoky. The taste is a rich malty body, some light chocolate, and a sweetness that I can’t figure out, it’s kinda odd. Not a bad beer at all.

GABF. Had expected more chocolate after the name. It was in the aromas, but just barely in the flavor. Some roastiness still came through though, but dissapointed over all.

Draft at Layton location. Opaque black with small, disappearing head. Nice roasted malt aroma. Flavor has some nutty chocolate, molasses, slight smoke and coffee with some slight metallic hops on the end. Mouthfeel is watery with slightly drying finish.

Great Utah Beer Run – Summer 2007
On Tap – Deep brown color with a thin head. This had a chocolate aroma with a great flavor. This had the Utah watery beer issue but this was better than most. Had some good malt uses and the finish was quite dry. Nice Beer.

@Mountain Beerfest-on tap-pours a retaining creamy light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate. Taste is dark malt-chocolate/coffee, some astringency from hops. Lively, nicely done but not my style.
