JonMoore (1547), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Nov 11, 2005 Updated: Nov 12, 2005Cask gravity. I love cask beer, but gravity delivery makes it so hard for good to middlin beers to impress; if this had been nicely handpump it would have been impressive. So; just a good beer, I’ll doubtless re-rate this upwards next time.
Amber with no head. Fruity, malty, quite full bodied. Flat as a witch’s. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Jul 11, 2005 Cask-conditioned @ Crispin, Wokingham (09/07/05) ABV 4.5% on pumpclip. Fruity aromatic hops with some maltiness. Very drinkable but could do with more malt character. Daniel_Brown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Jun 26, 2005 Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham. Brown beer, with fluffy head. Fruit malt - sour on the finish. I got the old diac-thingy (butterscotch) business going on - not greatly appealing. Solid, but stodgy. kook (2035), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Nov 25, 2004 Cask@whitehorse: Pours gold/copper with short head. Lacked aroma, bit hoppy. Nice sweet start with a fruity mid. Finish is citric and dry, quite bitter though suprisingly fruity. Medium smooth. Not bad. Gazza (720), Worcester, Worcestershire, England Nov 1, 2004 Deep golden beer, rich seville orange marmalade and floral hop aroma. Full malty body, a hint of alcohol, more oranges and hops, then bitterness and chocolate come in. The finish is malty, toasty and citrussy. A beer of great complexity. (Cask @ Smithfield, Manchester)
