| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy amber, lasting head. Flowey heather aroma. Medium dry with soft mouthfeel and indistinct malt flavours. The flavours from the heather are just lovely. Low bitterness. An interesting, unusual ale. Oakes (8115), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 4, 2006 The first time I tasted this, it was made at Alameda (the Roots brewmaster used to work there) and I loved it. Perhaps the burden of expectation was too much, because I was really not happy with this one. Hazy amber colour. The aroma is minty and with a significant footy yeast note not found last time around. Light yeast and malt character, not much else. Lacks heather and certainly is nowhere near as bright in either the heather nor malts as the same thing brewed at Alameda. harrisoni (6830), Ashford, Kent, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 7, 2006 On tap at Roots, Portland. Red/copper colour with no head. Fragrant aroma. Heather notes in mouth, but sound malt as well carries it off. Really quite heathery. Perfumed. But hey it does work. Good everything else. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 23, 2005 Murky orange and grapefruit colors. Very luminous. Weird, smooth flowery palate, soothing even... but strange with no hops used as all. It’s very evident. Semi-sweet, almost some saison-like sweetness and spices. Grapefruit and kiwi flavors as well are present... it’s hard to describe this one other than to call it experimental. jbrus (4895), Delft, Netherlands
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2009 Tap@Brewpub. Fruity and sweet aroma. Amber colour, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, fruity, light floral, caramel, hint of jasmine. Sticky mouthfeel. Flavourful and easy going. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 19, 2007 Tap @ Brewpub: Copper color, no head or lacing. Nose of grassy hay and juniper, some mellow citrus and vanilla musky notes. Flavor of dirty spice, decent body but a creamy herb and lacking character. Skyview (4076), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 17, 2007 On tap at the Roots brewpub during ABA Beer Tour 07. Pours a clear golden amber brew with a very fast dissolving white head. By the time I got the sample try the head was gone. Aroma of very light multi-grain bread, earthy hops and some yeast. Taste is very dry, hardly any carbonation, light bodied with flavors of dry grain, green tea and some roasted nuts. Finish is very dry, with an iced tea aftertaste. This one is a different brew to remember by.
