beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Apr 2, 2007 Not sure why the bartender and brewer are calling this a abbey dubbel. Tastes more like an normal Northwest amber ale. Hoppy all through without any distinctive belgian spice. I was really disapointed, I was looking for a nice Belgian style dubbel and ended up with a amber. Pours copper with a white head. Citrus floral hops in the aroma over a caramel malt base. Lacks any yeasty character and doesn’t have enough carbonation to liven up the palate. Even as an amber this would be subpar for Roots.
